Lets plan for a Sunday! Ripe opens at 10:00am, but no need to rush on over. We'll keep this trip laidback, so you can enjoy a nice, lowkey day. Starting with a visit to Ripe Cannabis and ending with food, fresh air, and local flavor.
11:00 AM — Stop at Ripe Cannabis
Start your day at Ripe Cannabis. Feel free to browse our menu ahead of time, or let our amazing staff give you a hand. We keep the vibe relaxed and the menu thoughtful. No pressure, just help if you want it. Looking to chill, feel creative, or stay clear-headed while you explore, our team can guide you to the right flower, vape, edible, or pre-roll. ADK carries a fine selection of non-infused pre-rolls that we always try to keep in stock. Perfect for those day-time highs where you don't want to get over stimulated.
Tip: Grab a sativa-leaning pre-roll or vape if you plan to stay active, or a hybrid if you want something balanced for a mellow afternoon. You can even go for a low-dose edible if you want to ease into the day.
11:20 AM — Quick Snack at Villa Italia on Broadway
After shopping, take a short walk to Villa Italia Bakery. Their M & M cookies are a personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything from there. Always fresh and reasonably priced.
11:45 AM — Coffee & Brunch on Jay Street
With snacks on hand, take a few minutes to walk or drive to
Jay Street Marketplace. It’s a short, cobblestone pedestrian block that always has something going on. A few open shops, street musicians, maybe a sidewalk chalk drawing or two. It’s got that small-town energy with some real character. A perfect place to ease into the day. We recommend:
- The Whistling Kettle – Sit down for a brunch plate or just sip one of their signature tea flights. It’s cozy inside, with brick walls and booths you’ll want to melt into. Their toasted sandwiches are seriously good.
- Storied Coffee – More of a grab-and-go vibe, with beautiful espresso, seasonal drinks, and pastries that are actually worth grabbing. Perfect spot to chill with a drink on a bench outside if it’s nice.
1:00 PM — Stroll the Schenectady Greenmarket (if it’s in season)
If it’s Sunday and it’s market season, don't skip the
Schenectady Greenmarket. It’s right outside City Hall and brings in all kinds of local vendors. From fresh produce and baked goods to local honey, handmade candles, and even live folk music echoing down the block. It’s not huge, with just enough booths to keep it interesting, but still has that small-town vibe and is comfortable. Walk slow, snack on something, maybe buy yourself a little treat.
Location: Outside Schenectady City Hall (near Jay St.)
2:00 PM — Fresh Air & Light Movement
This is where your edible starts to really shine. You’ve got a couple of great options to let your high stretch out and settle in the best way, but we recommend Schenectady’s Central Park. It's way bigger than you’d expect with tons of open space, winding trails, a rose garden, duck pond, and shaded benches everywhere. A great spot if you want to bring a blanket, stretch out, and people-watch or journal while your head’s in the clouds.
4:00 PM — Grab a Bite Before Heading Back
Once you’ve walked it off and vibed out a bit, it’s time to grab food. You’ve got a few local favorites nearby that don’t disappoint:
- Johnny's (Italian-American): Located right near Proctors, Johnny’s is a little more upscale, but still super approachable. Think classic pastas, steaks, and seafood,
plus a good wine list if you’re feeling fancy (or slightly buzzed but classy).
- Tara Kitchen (Moroccan comfort food): If you’re feeling adventurous (but still want something cozy), Tara Kitchen serves up
rich tagines, fragrant couscous, and spiced stews. It’s warm, flavorful, and great for a relaxing, sit-down dinner.
Bonus: lots of vegetarian options.
5:00 PM — Head Home (Or Hang Out a Bit Longer)
By now, you’ve had a solid day: great weed, good food, time outdoors, and that nice mix of mellow and stimulated. You can roll back home to Albany (it’s only ~20 minutes), or stick around if you’re not quite ready for the day to end.
If you’re still feeling it, maybe catch a
movie or live show at
Proctors or head over to the
Mohawk Harbor to watch the sun go down over the water.
